Attending the ceremony were Mr. Dang Ngoc Tung – Chairman of Vietnam General Confederation of Labour; Senior Lieutenant General Truong Quang Khanh – Deputy Minister of National Defense; Deputy Minister of Labour – Invalids and Social Affairs Doan Mau Diep – Vice Chairman of Steering Committee of the 17th National Week on Occupational Health and Safety – Fire and Explosion Prevention; and the Leader representatives from Ministries, Sectors, Provinces and cities on the whole country and international organization.
The event brought together representatives from the Hanoi-based International Labor Organization (ILO), the International Social Security Association (ISSA Mining), and over 4,000 local workers.
In 2013, the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee issued a direction on promoting labor hygiene and safety in the industrialization, modernization and international integration period.
The Prime Minister has also approved a national program on labor hygiene and safety between 2011 and 2015.
Last year, the State President signed a decision on Vietnam’s official participation in the ILO Convention 187 featuring the Promotional Framework for Occupational Safety and Health Convention. The Law on labor hygiene and safety is expected to take effect in early 2016.
According to the National Steering Committee for Occupational Health and Safety – Fire and Explosion Prevention, more than 6,700 labor accidents occurred nationwide in 2014, killing 630 and injuring 1,544 workers.
The same year, the country reported 2,370 fires, claiming 90 lives, leaving 143 injured, damaging an economic loss of over 1.3 trillion VND (62 million USD), and destroying over 1,300 hectares of forest.

Thus, although the employee must work in particular conditions, many in high positions, exposure to heat, or the pressure - lifting equipments, but had no trouble insecurity occurred in PVC- MS’s site.
Over the years, PVC- MS received many award from MOLISA, Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, Petro Vietnam in the work of Occupational Health and Safety – Fire and Explosion Prevention.
At the ceremony, PVC MS is one of 11 outstanding units and MR. Nguyen Dinh The (PVC MS’s Director) is one of 4 outstanding individuals awarded the Certificate of Merit in the work of Occupational Health and Safety – Fire and Explosion Prevention in 2014 by MOLISA.
