On the morning of 27-Apr-2023, in My Loc commune, Thai Thuy district, Thai Binh province, Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PVN) held a ceremony to inaugurate Thai Binh 2 Thermal Power Plant with 2 units (Unit 1 and Unit 2) having a total capacity of 1,200 MW put into commercial operation, becoming the largest thermal power plant in the Northern Delta region.
Overview of the ceremony
Thai Binh 2 Thermal Power Plant Project had a total area of 131.74 hectares, with a total investment of over 42,000 billion VND, including 2 units with a capacity of 1,200 MW. This was an urgent electricity project under Power Master Plan VII and adjusted by Power Master Plan VII. The project was invested by Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group, with PetroVietnam Construction Joint Stock Corporation (PetroCons) as the EPC Contractor. PVC-MS was trusted and selected as the contractor to carry out the procurement, fabrication, construction, and installation of the steel structure for the Turbine house, central control house with a fabrication, construction, and installation volume of over 9,200 tons of steel structure, and to carry out the installation of the Turbine - Generator and auxiliary equipment for Unit 2, as well as the construction and installation of the coal conveyor system and other auxiliary items.

The project was inaugurated after 12 years of construction, going through many fluctuating phases, especially at times when it seemed to be "frozen" and could not be completed due to various obstacles, causing concern and frustration among the people and local authorities... However, with the attention and guidance of the Government, Oil and Gas Group, and PetroCons, PVC-MS made efforts, worked tirelessly, regardless of the Tet holiday, overcame all the difficulties caused by diseases, weather, and gradually brought the project "to the finish line". To acknowledge these efforts, at the ceremony, PVC-MS was awarded a certificate of merit by the leadership of the Oil and Gas Group for its outstanding contribution to the construction and completion of the project.

Although it was the first time implementing the construction and installation of the Turbine - Generator and auxiliary equipment, as well as the coal conveyor system, PVC-MS completed the project on schedule and with absolute safety, meeting the quality requirements of the project. The successful completion and handover of the project once again affirmed the position, prestige, and capability of PVC-MS in the field of thermal power construction, laying the foundation for the company to participate in future projects.
