A series of machineries and equipment like piling robots, vertical artificial drain, and special steel pile for dismantling hard ground… has been mobilized to the site for meeting schedule.
Thai Binh Thermal Plant 2 was commented in February 2011, its Client is Petrovietnam (PVN). Up to present, the master schedule is met over 35%. The piling work is being carried out for central management building, boiler, bunker, and main ports; especially the selection of contractors has been completed and the packages for procurement and installation have been implemented… Starting with this peak time, Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of PVN has launched the competition for the first stage of 2014 (from 26/3 to 30/6) with a purpose to catch up the schedule of the important items including: piling and foundation work in boiler area, fresh water pumping station, raw water tank, fuel importing port, ground treatment, slag landfill. After 55 days under construction, up to 19/5, 2 out of 7 work items have been ahead of schedule: piling in Zone 2, foundation of boiler 1 as well as sand pumping, clay walling, installation of vacuum system and starting vacuum work in the station ground.
From 19/5 to 30/6, PVN Youth Union continued the competition to complete 3 important items belonging to the critical path of the plant of the first stage: boiler foundation, fresh water pumping station and raw water tank. These work items are considered as basis for equipment installation and operation. The supply pipeline of fresh water including a pumping station and a pipeline to the plant is one of the main construction items of the first stage. The work inside the plant has been carried out the test piling of 2 raw water tanks of 8,000m3 each serving water treatment section. After the success of the test piles, the mass piles shall be conducted together with concrete casting for the tank body. The water treatment section plays an important role for cooling of the whole plant, supplying domestic water and especially for fire protection located in the project area. Besides, other works of design, contract negotiation and procurement of equipment are performed in line with construction that meets the schedule at level 3 of the Client’s requirements. Currently, SCD (Association of Sojitz-Daelim), the main equipment supply Contractor is promptly fabricating equipment. PVC Contractor has signed contract for chimney supply; or materials distribution system, equipment for fire protection, crane… Other packages are under documentation completion of procurement of cooling pipeline, HFO, telecommunication, insulation and pipeline for contractor selection.
During synchronous implementation of construction activities, a big number of engineers and skillful workers are required. According to calculation and reports of the contractors, in the coming time, personnel shall be mobilized depending on the situation; the total number of workers mobilized may reach 5,000. PVC has made plan for mobilization of experienced and highly skilled laborers for construction of main items. They are given the best conditions for working and staying in the project. All of them are in commitment of contributing the best for the project to catch up the schedule.
The construction project of Thai Binh Thermal Plant 2 under Thai Binh Power Centre is in line with the national master plan of power VII that PetroVietnam is Client. The project is designed with 2 units and total capacity of 1,200 MW. The total investment is more than 34,295 billion VND (equivalent to 1.7 billion USD). Expectedly, after the project is completed and put into operation, it shall produce 6.739 billion kWh of commercial power annually. The project is currently under the basic construction stage. According to the schedule, unit one and unit two can be generated in quarter II-2016 and quarter IV-2016 respectively.
